Here we are, yet again, preparing our wardrobes for the colder months. Want to know what are the items in my fall/winter must have list, and how I would style them? Read further and find out!
To start off my list you should know the most important fact about me, and that is – NEVER EVER leave the house without lipstick! I feel like lipstick is a part of my identity and finishes off every outfit in a perfect way. So no wonder that lipstick will be on the top of my list. For winter, like most of us lipstick wearers, I gravitate towards darker shades, such as darker and deeper reds, purples and berry colors, and sometimes even almost black.
What would fall/winter be without layering? Nothing right? Well, that’s next on my list. Layering is most likely one of the most important ways to dress for colder months, and that’s the reason I love waist- and duster coats. You can so easily work them into any weather and make them look appropriate for any occasion. But you can also layer with different cardigans and jackets for your perfect look. But remember that layering takes practice and you don’t want to look like a wrapped in mummy. Layering black or similar colors is probably one of my favorite ways of layering. In this case be sure to work with different textures and lengths to create the best outcome.
Next on my list are matching sets. Especially ones that are in a knit version. Knits are perfect for cold weather and what’s better than a knit matching set in a nice neutral color? Need I say more? That’s what I thought.
We are almost at the end of my list and and now I will finally share my love for leather and fur. This combo is the absolute cherry on top of a delicious cake. Fur and leather will never go out of style and work with anything. You can glam up or dress down your outfits so easily and give that final WOW effect to any look. Try out leather jackets/coats with fur collars. Keep it calm with neutral tones or go all out with funky colorful ones. One thing is for sure – you will be remembered! A classical fur coat will never make you look boring and keeps you extra warm.
We finally made it to the end and for the last item or actually items in my must have list are both shoes and hats. A perfect way to change your outfit mood is through accessorizing and I include shoes and hats as my favorite accessories. With a funky shoe you will never look boring. You can insert color, with some bright trainers, to your otherwise colorless winter attire or funk up the look with different platform shoes. Possibilities are endless in this case.
And as important as warm feet are, so is a warm head. I’ve been living in my officer hats for the longest time now and what better time to wear a hat, than during the winter? If your hat is too boring you can always ‘DIY’ your hat to a next level (like I did) and no one will ever have the exact same hat – not bad huh?
