Penny Karabey shares her insider knowledge of the fashion world and how she brings luxury fashion to consumer. She is known worldwide for runway pieces not available anywhere else.
Penny writes:
Being in the fashion industry, I attend New York Fashion Week twice a year. The shows bring together the most fabulous people from across the globe to see the newest collections from top designers here in New York. While I have had the privilege of attending some of the most exclusive shows in Milan and Paris, I pay just as much attention to what is being shown outside the shows as what is being shown on the runways. Street Style is one of the most important parts of the fashion business, and that is why it inspires both my personal style and what I select for Luxury Next Season.
What I love most about Street Style is that it shows me what the consumer is actually buying, and wanting and not just what the designers themselves are pushing. Street Style also gives me inspiration for my own personal style.
Every fashion week I try my best to take risks, I bring out my most special pieces. Last season I debuted the Dior 30 Montaigne bag in a gorgeous shade of yellow. It was an immediate success. Bloggers, editors and photographers all seemed to be captivated by it, prompting many comments on my look. By seeing what is worn by the fashion community to the shows, I am able to see what the rest of the world will be wearing in a season or two, allowing me to get ahead of trends and stock accordingly for Luxury Next Season.
A few seasons before Dior relaunched its iconic saddle bag, the original saddle bag reappeared in Street Style and I knew right away it was bound to make a comeback and several months later, Dior announced the new saddle bag.I knew right away it would become the latest it bag and that I must stock it for Luxury Next Season. It was a tremendous success both for Dior and for Luxury Next Season stocking the bag.
